Get To Know Asianfluence

Asianfluence Radio traces its origins back to May 1st, 2017, when it first aired as a segment called Radio Active. Created and launched by Mickey, also known as Kitty Pink, during her time as a Master's student at the University of Ottawa, the show was born from a bold vision: to introduce Ottawa—and Canada at large—to the fresh, evolving vibe of Asian music and culture.

What began as a small, passionate effort quickly grew into a full-fledged platform. With a dynamic blend of urban R&B, pop, underground Asian music, and cultural commentary, the show struck a chord with listeners and became a Tuesday-night staple on CHUO 89.1 FM.

Over the years, Mickey has not only shaped the voice of Asianfluence but has also mentored and trained an impressive lineup of rising talents, many of whom have gone on to make waves of their own. Notable past co-hosts include Chris Hue, Anna, and Jasmin Jin, with many more contributing to the program’s evolving legacy.

Today, Asianfluence is hosted by Mickey, Gin, and Belinda, alongside a dedicated team of Asian volunteer students from the University of Ottawa. Together, they continue to bring cutting-edge music, powerful interviews, and authentic cultural storytelling to the airwaves—celebrating diversity and giving voice to a vibrant Asian Canadian community.
